- Right now the 030 at 40 MHz is the best bang for the buck for the lowend
- right now which will guarantee them more sales then if they used an 040
- and would be much easier to use older software and it not breaking then
- it would be with the 040. More then likely this will be the last CPU in
- the 68000 series that will come standard for the "lowend" as the next
- lowend step should be PowerPC. The people who already wanted an 040 or
- an 060 got them and if new users want to get one, they can add it to the
- CPU slot in the Amiga Walker. The PowerPC Amigas should be able to emulate
- the 68000 series via a software emulation starting at 040 speeds (rule
- out lowend 040) and the Power PC chip itself will be cheaper and faster
- then the 060 (rule out lowend 060s).
-
- How can AT lead when they haven't even really began to "catch up"? The
- Amiga Walker is a start but they have to market it successfully in order
- to gain revenue to build and to enhance the Power Amiga. What do you
- think AGA was? Really it was only a stepping stone to AAA but they ran
- out of money and needed revenue to finish it so why not put out an
- interim chipset and design?
-
- Only when the Power Amiga is released will the Amiga and AT be on "par"
- with its competition to which finally if the Power Amiga sells well they
- can concentrate on taking the lead once more!
